I have battled with my skin since the age of 16. I have no idea where it came from but out of the blue I had spots and to make it worse that turned into acne which now at the ripe old age of 30 is still present!
I have tried everything on the market from the cheapest to the most expensive products. Roaccutane didn’t even help me! That stuff is brutal. It reduced my acne but didn’t rid of it completely like it was sold! Everyone’s skin is different and I understand there isn’t a one solution fits all but I was disappointed with the outcome. I mean my skin must be leather!! Is there another solution or option?!
I have yet to find one. My diet has changed, I stopped drinking for a period but that didn’t help and incidentally there is no direct link to alcohol causing acne. The research out there needs to be listened too and taken into account however. Hormones contribute mainly and sebum in particular is the main culprit of acne and more skin health!!
This causes inflammation and a blockage to the hair follicle. You can wash your face with the best cleanser, exfoliator or serum but the truth is the pore is still blocked! If you are like me, you are blessed with terrible skin, that will always be prone to infection you can only do your best to help. Make conscious choices with your diet, exercise regularly but do not deprive yourself of anything. Everything in moderation and balance is key for happiness alone. Heck I would rather have terrible skin but be happy, I don’t know about you. Let me show you my latest outbreak. To many it may seem minor but to me, personally it is huge! Confidence, security, anxiety, self worth and many more come into play and lets be honest they shouldn’t!!
We are all the same. We all live and breath the same so why shouldn’t we feel the same?!
Everyone has something they don’t like about themselves and wish they could change. You get friends and family telling you not to worry and you look great but are they being kind or honest that is the question?!
It is difficult to get yourself in that mindset but once you realise there is no product that can truly help, no diet that can cure you and no amount of praying that will work you have to accept what you have and work with it!
I am learning that and no matter what I spend on products (I will continue too) it doesn’t define me as a person, what’s on my face and it doesn’t degrade my worth. Like the saying, don’t judge a book by its cover…..
